Yes, Santiago Stage’s latest production Noises Off is off to a flying start, with the first cast BBQ of the production, being held at a secret location north of Santiago this coming weekend. Noises Off is a play about the play Nothing On or rather the production of Nothing On and the lives of its actors, crew and director, as they attempt to tour the country. The play Nothing On is set in England while Noises Off is set in Chile… Yes, well confused, you’ll just have to come and see or yourselves! Noises Off is to open in June 2010 so you have time to prepare for what is arguably the funniest play the troupe has ever produced. We recommend you watch the movie, Noises Off starring Michael Cain and Christopher Reeves… we’ve never been the same since!

What is Noises Off? The commotion that goes on backstage, so called noises off stage! For Santiago Stage Noises Off is to be what our next production is all about. Of the two finalists in our election process, Michael Frayn’s Noises Off won by two votes over Oscar Wilde’s The Importance of Being Earnest. Noises Off promises to be a pleasure to produce and to be a hit with Santiago Stage followers and theater buffs in Santiago. This modern comedy by Michael Frayn is a play about a play, or rather a play about the production of a play. The nine strong cast will be announced soon, as we all await the decision of the Director of Noises Off Ben Clarke. We can say that we can’t bear the suspense either!

Santiago Stage meets every Monday at 8.30 on the 2nd floor of Flannery’s Irish Pub, Encomenderos 83, Las Condes, Santiago. If you are interested in joining the troupe come along to our meeting. No acting or theatrical experience is necessary, just the desire to have some laughs.
